What does it mean to be a Christian?
Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

You do not have to be perfect to become a follower of Jesus. Actually just the opposite, you need to recognise that you are not perfect and that your sins separate you from God. In fact the bible says that you are dead in your sins. Ephesians 2 vs 1
The 10 commandments show us what Gods standard is. You may think you are a good person but when we are faced with Gods perfect law we all fall short.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Romans 3 vs 23
Remember- God loves you so much that he paid the ultimate price by sending his only son Jesus to make a way for you.You can have new life which the bible describe as being 'born again'. John 3 vs 3-6
Only Jesus has power over sin because he lived a sinless life and was brutally killed taking the punishment for your sin onto himself.
He then rose again from the dead defeating sin and death to give you new life.
So when your body dies your soul (that’s the real you) can live forever with God in heaven.

The Bible says there are two things you need to do to get right with God-
1. Be willing to turn away from your sin
2. Put your trust in Jesus and follow him
You can pray something like this-
“Dear God, I turn away from all my sins (name them using the Ten Commandments) I put my trust in Jesus. Please forgive me and make me clean. I want to live the rest of my life in relationship with you. Help me to become more like Jesus.”
There are some other important steps to take to finding full freedom from the effects of sin but this is the starting point.
You need to find a good church with people who will help you as you start this radical new journey. Get yourself a bible (contact us if you don’t have one) and start to read it. The Gospel of John is a good place to start.
Continue to talk to God and put him at the centre of your life.
